Little Bird goes BIG!

Though it's not my typical line of work, I've taken on a product shoot!  I love Little Bird Vintage Designs' products: blankets, lovies, totes and apparel, so when Little Bird's owner, Grace, asked if I'd be up for shooting all of her items for her website, I thought it would be fun!
I love her huge selection and the fact that you can customize them to your liking as well.  It's not hard to sell beautiful handmade, quality products.

Stop by her store and check them out!

Deep In the Heart of a Texan

One of my dearest friends is awaiting the arrival of her sweet baby girl from China.  As such, she wanted a way to pass the time and let her little girl know, in later years, how incredibly excited she is now awaiting her arrival...and so we took pictures, of course!  I can't imagine how difficult it must be to  wait once you've been matched with your adoptive child until you can actually bring him/her home.  I'm getting the slightest glimpse and mostly, I just think it is amazing the love that grows in that time and how they become a part of your family even before they set foot in your home.  Can't wait to meet you SE!!

From Russia...

with soooooo much love!!  I was asked to greet a brand new family of seven at the airport to document their arrival home with their sweet newly adopted 2 year old son.

Family and friends gathered early, their flight arrived late but there wasn't a frustrated face in the crowd.  There was only eager anticipation, waiting to see their new brother, new playmate, new grandson, new family friend.  Over the last year, he's already become an integrated part of their lives, just hasn't been living in their house yet, only their hearts.

Their four children who had been anxiously awaiting their arrival home were thrilled to see all three of them.  It was a powerful and emotional reunion to say the least.

Today, there is one less orphan in the world because they brought him home and called him their own.

In the car, their youngest girl wouldn't let go of mom.  Their compromise was to hold hands instead...precious.

Seventh Heaven

Just last week, Becky added her fifth child, a girl, to their family of two rough and tumble boys and now three sweet girls.  I love their family dynamic and really enjoyed getting to photograph this large family!  Mom and Dad have tons of patience (as would seem obvious with a family of 7) and they were uber-patient with me as I'm a tad out of practice, awaiting the right timing to step back into full swing after our own family addition.

Baby L is TINY, easily the smallest baby I've seen yet.  The older four kids are incredibly sweet around her, the boys protective, the girls doting.  I'm so excited for the blessing of this new child for their fun family and look forward to seeing how she fits in with the rest of their crew!

This little one was a dream.  I've taken a bit of a break since my last daughter was born but just for fun, borrowed the newbie from across the street.  His shoot was a breeze, he gave me ZERO trouble.  He was perfect.

Grandpa brought him by and just so happened to be wearing his hat--a true Texan!  I love that he's even giving us a little smile here...those milk comas are good!

TWO? Already??

I adore my nephew, he is PRECIOUS.  Who wouldn't love this mischievous grin??  I don't really want to take his picture, I'd prefer to smother him in kisses and tickle him until he has to gasp for air he's laughing so hard.  ...but I won't, because my sister would really like a few pictures instead.

My Final Masterpiece

>> Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Hayden, my sweet baby girl and final masterpiece was born in January.  She is precious and perfect and our older three girls adore her...as do we!

It's amazing how quickly they grow, her wrinkled skin has filled out, her newborn cry is already waning and those first newborn outfits have become snug.

The coming year will be full of milestones and, of course, PICTURES :)  Welcome to the world, little one!

This baby boy LOVES his Mama, as most boys do.  I think he would have slept on her chest all afternoon if we'd let him!    Mom is doing great and doesn't look at all exhausted, even if she probably is.

C is so sweet and clearly a cuddler.  He wanted to be wrapped up tightly if not being held.  He is absolutely precious and it has been a delight to see our friends grow into a family of three!

Rise and SHINE!

Sweet P has welcomed a baby brother into his family!  I really enjoy having the opportunity to follow up with siblings, especially brand new ones!  This is a good looking family of four and I had fun heading over to their new house to document the newest addition.

K looks fantastic already and is practically glowing with her two sweet boys in her lap.

I just love daddies with their newborns.  The contrast in size is always fun to see!

After much searching, mom and dad have chosen this verse for him, "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is upon you." Isaiah 60:1

Through the Looking Glass

This is my favorite nephew, back after 6 months!  S is ALL boy, but looking at him, I still see my little sister.  Same childhood hamster cheeks :)  We used to swear she was stowing food away for winter.

At any rate, he was ready for his close-up in record time.  He was supposedly being dropped off so my sister and B-I-L could go on a date but at the last minute, I asked my sister to pack along his 1 year photo clothes.  My mom and I whisked him away to the yard, dodging golf balls and changing his clothes multiple times.  He was SUCH a sport--he clapped, laughed and happily sat in a tree while my mom clung to his shirt for dear life.

I just love him to pieces and think he has been one of my best subjects to date!  I'm thrilled to have been in town for both his 6 month and 1 year milestones!

Look at his little college boy self!  At the very least he looks like he's ready to graduate from kindergarten.  He is just precious...I love him, I love him, I LOVE him!  Shh, I'm thinking about sneaking him home with me ;)

Sweet Summertime

I met G late in the day at the park and she was ready to play! She is an incredibly energetic 16 month old and FEARLESS!  She was very interested in checking out the pond, so much so that she decided to attempt to hop right in!  Mom had great reaction time and grabbed her just as G got a foot full of algae :)

This little one kept me moving the entire time!  She was a ton of fun to photograph and I look forward to seeing how the set turns out.  Thanks for sharing your little girl for the evening, she is precious!

Twice the Fun

These 3 year old twins are adorable and packed with loads of energy!  C & G appear to be great pals and keep each other laughing.  I'm pretty sure they keep mom and dad BUSY!

This little boy was so talkative; he wanted to tell me all about his favorite things.  He enjoyed turtle searching in the pond and feeding the minnows.

G warmed up about the time mom reminded her of the upcoming dance recital and she went through her routine for me!  Once she began dancing, she only stopped long enough to pick a few flowers :)

Full Circle

Last weekend, I met up with my friend to take her son and daughter's annual pictures again.  Her son was my first practice session when I started this venture a little over a year ago!  I can't believe it's been a year already, but then that's why I do this...to capture those fleeting moments that pass by all too quickly.

Although I'm fairly sure that boys stay enamored with rocks for years, it's still fun to remember just how much entertainment a little piece of earth can bring.  Here, he's trying to grab the rock mom has just hidden amongst the flowers for him :)

A girl's love affair with flowers, however, never ends!  Dandelion wishes will one day bring thoughts of weeding all day, but for now they're pure joy and fun to hunt down every last one.  Enjoy the preview and have a wonderful and safe trip!
